Sequence of Events section:Sanatan Sanstha’s protest campaign against M. F. Husain’s derogatory paintings picked up momentum from its very beginning on 13-Nov-05. The agitations in India have taken on the form of hundreds of police complaints and written statements to Government officers, offline signature campaigns, burning of Husain effigies, strikes, bandhs, public gatherings, public rewards to take action against Husain, etc. In general, the Indian media have not been very forthcoming in giving objective coverage to the campaign. The protests outside of India have been mainly in the form of online signature campaigns, protesting to the authorities via email, giving media coverage to the campaign, etc. Click here to read details of the campaign outside India. Sanatan Sanstha urges supporters of this campaign to lodge vehement, persistent protests by peaceful and legitimate means to end this and such denigration. Note: Here we are presenting the sequence of events that we have a record of. Hence, the figures are much lower than the actual.
