On 8 February 2006, CNN’s TV channel in India, CNN-IBN covered the protest against Husain’s nude Bharatmata painting. In its interview with Hindu Janjagruti Samiti’s national spokesperson, Dr. Durgesh Samant and Action India Trust’s spokesperson, Ms. Nafisa Ali, Ms. Ali gleefully claimed that the derogatory painting of Bharatmata had been sold. The coverage was rather educative in highlighting the sold price for another painting series by Husain: Rs. 100 crore!
