A ban on Sanatan & HJS Will be Unjust and Unacceptable!

H.H. Asaramji Bapu displays Sanatan's Holy texts to the audience

Following the news-reports of Organisations demanding a ban on Sanatan Sanstha and Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, many Saints, respected individuals and others expressed their views openly. Presented here are a few responses.

I am always with Sanatan Sanstha and HJS! - H.H. Asaramji Bapu

"I am aware of the noble activities of Sanatan Sanstha and Hindu Janajagruti Samiti. The Government should ponder over whether the ban, if imposed, will last long. I will speak on this topic in my guidance to the people. If the Government continues its anti-Hindu tirade and does not refrain from attacking the Hindu faith, the Hindu subjects will uproot the Government. The Government thinks that it is its duty to harass the Ascetics and Saints. The Government is persecuting the Hindus. They will have to pay a heavy price for this."

At His Ashram (at Kelgaon near Sri Kshetra Alandi, Maharashtra), H.H. Asaramji Bapu said in His discourse, "The seekers of Sanatan Sanstha are very good. Their activities are also very good. It will be wrong on the part of the Government to bring a ban on the Sanstha." The discourse was attended by a large number of Bapu's devotees and disciples.

H.H. Asaramji Bapu further said, "The present times are terrible; but do not worry. There are obstacles in all good work; but there is no need to get scared. Organisations that do good work are always the targets of such bans. What happens if they are banned? They become more organised and their work continues with more vigour. Whenever an Organisation is banned, its mission gets a boost." He continued, "Now-a-days, wild allegations are hurled at Saints. False charges are made even on the Saintly like Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Jayendra Saraswati. "

If Sanatan is banned, the entire Varkari Sampraday will stand behind it like a rock! "The mission of Sanatan is noble. We always support those who support Dharma. If the Government imposes a ban on the Sanstha, the entire Varkari Sampraday will stand behind the Sanstha like a rock." - HBP Vasudev Maharaj, Varkari Sampraday, Dombivali.

We condemn all efforts to ban Sanatan Sanstha!
"The ignorance amongst Hindus about Dharma is on the increase. Sanatan Sanstha works towards removing this ignorance. This has been the tradition since times immemorial. Sanatan only is keeping it alive!" - Pandit Vamanacharya Joshi, Sri Uttaradi Math, Latur.

Stop the false propaganda against Sanatan!
"We condemn the false propaganda against Sanatan on the bomb-blast at Gadakari Rangayatan, Thane. The very word 'Sanatan' encompasses its ancientness, Hindutva and Hindu culture. So the venom being spread against Sanatan is malicious. The people themselves should give a fitting reply to this criticism." - Sri Madhav Mandal, Latur.

It is not correct to hold a noble Organisation responsible for the bomb blast!
"Sanatan Sanstha has tried to bring all pro-Hindu sects and Organisations onto one platform and coordinate their activities. All these Organisations and sects will be enraged if Sanatan is banned by the Government. Sanatan Sanstha's activities are indeed praiseworthy." - HBP Shyam-sundar Maharaj Sonnar, Joint Secretary, Sri Varkari Prabodhan Mahasamiti.

Sanatan Sanstha and HJS work righteously and selflessly for the society!
"A big conspiracy has been hatched to malign Sanatan Sanstha and HJS and to finish them off by putting the blame of the bomb-blast on them. This will hurt the entire Hindu community." - Rohidas Maharaj Hande, Pune. (A revolutionary and Kirtankar of International repute)

Sanatan Sanstha should not be held responsible for the blast!
"Sanatan Sanstha is an Organisation that spreads Spirituality through democratic means. If the Sanstha is banned, it will create widespread unrest amongst the Hindus!" - Akhil Bharatiya Chhava Sangathan, Ambajogai.

Ban on Sanatan and HJS amounts to the oppression of active Hindus!
"I have been closely watching the activities of HJS and Sanatan Sanstha for the last few years. These Organisations are working for activating the Hindus with righteous methods. Imparting in-depth knowledge of Hindu culture and making the Hindus inculcate behaviour as per the culture is the mission of these Organisations. The seekers here harbour an attitude that Hindu culture can be protected only by nurturing it, not by bomb blasts." - Pujya Acharya Janardan Maharaj, Satpanth Mandir Sansthan, Faizpur, District Jalgaon, Maharashtra.

Carrying out bomb blasts is not the philosophy of Sanatan and Hindu Janajagruti Samiti!
"Sanatan Sanstha and Hindu Janajagruti Samiti perform the noble task of imparting knowledge about our glorious culture to the Hindus. HJS has staged peaceful demonstrations everytime - be it against the denigration of Hindu Deities, the incidents of religious hurt, the arrest of Shankaracharya or the Blind-faith Removal Act. Similarly, every action of Sanatan is within the ambit of the law of the land. Carrying out bomb-blasts is not the philosophy of Sanatan and HJS." - H.H. Ulhasgiri Maharaj, Taluka Rajapur, Maharashtra.

Tall talks of a ban on Sanatan Sanstha should be condemned by every quarter of the society!
"Indulgence in tall talks about a ban on Sanatan Sanstha is an attempt to trample upon the democratic values upheld by the Constitution. It is the duty of every active citizen that such attempts be condemned in the strongest words. I appeal to every nationalist Organisation not to allow such attempts to be successful." - Acharya Swami Govinddev Giri. (Ref.: 'Dainik Sanatan Prabhat')

Sanatan files cases against Newspapers!

Criminal case against weekly 'Chitralekha'
Panaji (Goa) -
Sanatan Sanstha has filed a criminal case against the Editor, Owner, Publisher (and author of articles) of the weekly 'Chitralekha' in the court of Judicial Magistrate First Class at Panaji, Goa, for publishing defamatory articles. The weekly 'Chitralekha' is published from Mumbai. Its Editor Mr. Dnyanesh Maharav, Owner, Publisher and Printer Mr. Mitrajit Bhattacharya, and the authors who seemingly get sadistic pleasure in writing anti-Sanatan articles (including Ms. Sandhya Nare-pawar, Mukund Kule, Shyam Manav, Bhanudas Adbhai and the executive president of Maharashtra Andhhashraddha Nirmoolan Samiti (ANIS) Dr. Narendra Dabholkar) have conspired against Sanatan Sanstha and with an open intention to defame the Sanstha, they have published in their issue of 7th July 2008 the following articles - 'Extremist awakening of Sanatan-ites', 'Sanatan seekers or a nuisance?', 'Factory of human robots' and other such matter. The Managing Trustee of the Sanstha, Mr. Virendra Marathe filed a criminal case against these accused under sections 500, 501, 502 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code in a Panaji court, for the defamatory articles against the Sanstha.

Pune - Recently the 'Pune Cyber City' branch of the Rotary Club donated 50 first-aid boxes to the Sanatan Sanstha. The Club clarified that they were donating the boxes to the Sanstha, as they were aware of its noble activities. (By this act, the Rotary Club has given a slap on the face of opponents of the Sanstha, who are clamouring for a ban on it by levelling false charges against it! - Editor)

At a Rotary Club function in Shivaji Nagar, Rotarian Mr. Sunil Phadake expressed trust that the Sanstha will put them to good use. Present on the occasion were Mr. Ravindra Nivaragi, President of the Club's Pune Cyber City branch, Rotarian Mr. Shashikant Chapalkar and others; Chief Guest for the function was Mr. Shrikant Patil.

Free uniforms, textbooks and allowance!

Mumbai - To increase the literacy rate amongst the boys and girls of the minority community, Maharashtra Chief Minister Mr. Vilasrao Deshmukh has issued directives, that they be given free uniforms, textbooks, notebooks and at the same time a scheme should be implemented to offer attendance allowance to them.

He added, "Consequent to the report of Sachhar Committee to the Centre, the state Government has instituted a committee under the chairmanship of Mr. Mohammed Rehman. Accordingly, it is now imperative to focus on the educational, social and economic capabilities of the minority community with a view to bring it into the main stream. (At the same time, there are thousands of Hindu families in rural, tribal, as well as urban areas of Maharashtra, who are cut off from the main stream and are living a pathetic life below the poverty line. If the Government extends the same facilities to them, they too will be obliged! - Editor)

Keeping in view various remedies suggested by the committee, the Minorities Development Department will chalk out various schemes. The Government has made a provision of Rs. 100 crore in the budget for this. The minority community students will receive these facilities from this fund. (Ref: 'Dainik Sanatan Prabhat')

Gurupournima Celebrated in 25 Centres Overseas!

By the grace of the Guru Principle, Sanatan's Gurupournima celebrat-ions took place with a lot of bhav (spiritual emotion) in many new places across the globe.
Sanatan's Gurupurnimas were celebrated in a total of 25 places Overseas: 13 in the USA, 1 in Canada, 1 in Latin America, 1 in Dubai, 2 in Australia and 7 in the European Union.

New seekers who have joined Sanatan over the past one year participated wholeheartedly, by taking up responsibilities in the organisation of the functions. The Gurupournima spirit started being felt more than a month ago, which gave an additional boost to all seekers participating in the Gurupournima sevas; the seekers put in efforts with bhav in each seva assigned. A wave of gratitude touched the seekers' hearts, which culminated in spiritual experiences on the day of Gurupournima.
Here are a few highlights:

1. Personality Development and Ego Removal Workshops: In all regions, seekers participated in 2 day 'Personality Development Workshops'. These workshops were conducted immediately after Gurupournima to make the most of the presence of all seekers, who travelled great distances to attend the celebrations. Seekers attending felt they were being invited to 'God's University' which inspired them to study earnestly and put into practice what was learnt during the workshops.

2. Global Live satsang via Internet: A special highlight this year was that, the first online Gurupournima International lecture on Gurupournima Day was held via 'Skype'. The lecture was taken by Mr. Hrishikesh Gurjar from Guru's Ashram in Zweibrücken, Germany with 2 seekers from USA, 1 seeker from Latin America, 2 seekers from Germany and 1 seeker from another EU country attending this online lecture. This was a unique experience for everyone. The entire event was completely arranged by the Guru Principle, from the first thought to the lecture itself. It was poignant to observe how the Guru Principle was connecting seekers from around the globe to one International online lecture. After the lecture Ms. Zhyelka shared the inner joy she experienced at how all the seekers got connected in this unique way due to the yearning of their souls.

3. North American region seekers made special efforts for the spread of Spirituality during Gurupournima: Five new seekers presented the Gurupournima lecture for the first time. More then 20 participants who attended the workshops came from all regions of the USA sub-continent.

4. A Radio-show and a Coffee-talk: Within 3 months of starting spiritual practice, a new seeker in California, Mrs. Pallavi Shirodkar, gave a Radio-show on Gurupournima. Seeker Ms. Maya Jairam inspired, organised and conducted a Coffee-talk on the topic of a 'Guru', sponsored and endorsed by Fort Collins City Human Relations Commission as a part of a protest campaign against 'The Love Guru' movie. When she was asked to speak, she felt as if it was the Guru Himself who was speaking.

5. In South America, a seeker's effort inspired others: When one is alone in a country without the physical presence of other seekers and when one has never travelled to Bharat, then to attempt to celebrate Guru-pournima all alone denotes immense motivation and desire to progress spiritually.
The highlight of this year's Gurupournima was the Guru Puja performed in Latin America, by a new seeker who reached Sanatan via the login facility of the SSRF site. The seeker started spiritual practice under the guidance of Sanatan less then a year ago, and has made efforts for spiritual progress despite all odds, by being proactive, putting all guidance instantly into practice and developing spiritual emotion in seva. He went through great lengths to perform the Guru Puja all alone. Some efforts included: Painting of the Gurukrupa logo, striving to find banana stems from a guarded banana plantation, in a place where it was not safe to go (he could manage to get just the stems, without leaves); making kumkum out of turmeric, by going to a Chemistry University to find necessary chemicals; finding the only place with copperware for puja etc. He also studied and practiced the pronunciation of Guru Puja shlokas for days and recited them so well, that one could not tell if it was a priest from Bharat reciting it or a person whose mother tongue is foreign.

6. Middle east: Seekers in Dubai celebrated Gurupournima at Sindhi Ceremonial Center. The priest for the Guru Puja was seeker Mr. Suryakant Rao.
After the science of Divine Principle present in the sattvik Ganesh Idol was explained, participants experienced the benefits first hand by circumamb-ulating the Idol.
The Gurupournima lectures, were delivered by seekers
Mr. Suryakant Rao and Mr. Manju-nath Ramaiah. There were a total of 80 attendees, of which 37 were new. The new attendees were very interested in the topics and have requested for more such lectures.

7. Australia: Seekers here took on Gurupournima seva responsibilities with renewed zeal. Seeker Mr. Anil Shet said, "While performing the Guru Puja, I felt as if I am performing it actually at H.H. Bhaktaraj Maharaj's feet. I had a constant vision of His Holy feet." This was the first time Gurupournima was celebrated in the house of the Shet family, with all seekers developing closeness by living together for 3 days at Shet's home and doing seva together. In Sydney Mrs. Soha Deo performed the Guru Puja and conducted the lecture.

HJS asks Censor Board to ban the Anti-Hindu Hollywood Film 'The Love Guru'!

'The Love Guru' instigates a bar fight, repeatedly narrates penis jokes, mocks yog, wears female jewellery, mocks the concept of third eye, makes disciples drink tea passed through his nose, orders alligator soup, induces elephant copulation in front of the crowd, introduces himself as 'His Holiness', lives in a lavish Ashram staffed with scantily clad maids etc.

Mumbai - A film titled 'The Love-Guru' has been released all over the world. In this film, the sacred relationship between the Guru and disciple has been ridiculed.
Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) has therefore, requested the Central Board of Film Certification and the Government of Bharat not to grant permission to this film for its release in Bharat.

HJS had written a letter on 21st May 2008 to the Board, wherein it was mentioned that the 'Guru-Disciple' tradition is the greatest gift of the Hindu culture to the world. This tradition has been ridiculed in this film. There is so much of denigration even in the advertisement clipping shown on its website that one will shudder to imagine how severe it must be in the main film. The 'Guru-disciple' relationship is sacred in all religions of the world, but this film derides this relationship.

Thereafter, upon an enquiry, Mr. Vinayak Azad, Regional Officer of the Board wrote to
Mr. Shivaji Vatkar (HJS Coordinator for Mumbai Region) on 4th June 2008 that they have not received any application for the certification of this film. However, it is understood from the film's website that it will be released in Asia between July-October and on 5th September 2008 in Bharat. Accordingly, HJS has again written a protest letter informing the Board about the opposition throughout world, the protest campaign on HJS' website and of the serious effects this film will have in Bharat.

Here is a glimpse of the world wide protest by HJS and others:

UK: Mr. Rajan Zed, acclaimed Hindu leader, supported by some other Organisations/leaders gave a boycott call for 'The Love Guru' in the UK. Meanwhile, a signature campaign launched by Hindu groups against the movie crossed the 6,800 mark. Advancing the campaign Mrs. Bhavna Shinde, representing Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, in a communiqué to Viacom Founder, Sumner M Redstone, Paramount Chairman Brad Grey, and others, said, "The Love Guru ridicules Hinduism and has hurt the feelings of the Hindu community worldwide."
She further stressed, "…to undo some of the damage done to the community by Paramount Pictures and Viacom through this movie, you should produce a brief video and a booklet on Hinduism and its tenets, and enclose it with the DVD of 'The Love Guru', and attach a disclaimer at the beginning of DVD."

Meanwhile, to counter the gross misrepresentation of the Guru-disciple relationship in the movie, Spiritual Science Research Foundation announced holding of interactive workshops across the world on 'Who is a Guru' and to educate the public about the true Guru-disciple relationship. On the other hand, Nevada Clergy Association urged Paramount and Viacom to issue a general public apology over the issue, which, it says, "will help heal the wounds of a seemingly perturbed one-billion-strong Hindu community."

Australia: Ms. Sajana Nand, President of the Australian Hindu Multicultural Association, called for a nationwide boycott of the movie. Mr. Vamsi Krishna of the Australia chapter of Sanatan Sanstha, in a letter to the Australian Attorney General, wrote, "…please intervene in this issue and kindly use your good offices to stop this movie from being released in Australia…"

USA: The Hindu groups urged the National Hockey League (NHL), headquartered in New York, to immediately cut-off all alliances with the movie, stressing that it ridicules and denigrates Hindus and Hinduism.

Singapore: Hindus are not happy with the rating given by Singapore Censors to the movie. Mrs. Bhavna Shinde, representing HJS, appealed to the Singapore Media Development Authority (MDA) to assign its highest 'R21' (Restricted 21) rating to the movie, instead of currently held 'NC 16', saying "Cinema is a powerful medium and it can create stereotypes in the minds of some audiences, especially in the minds of younger audiences, who are passing through an impressionable phase. We do not want the next generation of Singapore growing up with a distorted view of Hinduism and Hindus."
