Distortion of History: 'Can't punish culprits for textbook mistakes', says Goa CM
|
HJS' Ms. Shubha Sawant offering bangles to Mr. LMT Fernandes |
Panaji (Goa) - Last month we had reported, how HJS had brought to light the glaring
discrepan-cies in the textbook on 'History and Political Science' based on a curriculum designed by NCERT, and made available by the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBS & HSE) for Marathi medium students of Std. X. HJS had warned of a Nationwide stir, if the textbook was not withdrawn and the guilty punished. Read now the further developments.
The Chief Minister of Goa, Mr. Digamber Kamat expressed helplessness in the matter, saying,
"Since the Goa Board is an autonomous body, neither the Education Minister nor the CM can intervene in its affairs and there are no laws that allow such intervention! So those who commit mistakes in this field cannot be punished." (Why do we require such a democracy that produces CM's without teeth! – Editor)
He said that a three-member committee has been formed under the Chairmanship of educationist Mr. Suresh Amonkar to make improvements in the controversial textbook. (Who will pay for the expenditure of the committee and the expenditure required for printing the textbooks again? If money of the Government treasury is used, it will amount to looting the people! – Editor) When an error takes place in the field of education, no one is responsible for that. There are a number of experts involved.
(By this utterance, the CM is only trying to save the Chairman of the Goa Board, Mr. LMT Fernandes and all those responsible for the grave errors. Now the people will have to examine the truth in Cm's statement that there is no provision in law for punishing such culprits! – Editor)
LMT Fernandes gets bangles for supporting 'distorted' history textbook
Angry mothers of Std. X students staged a 'Baangdya Bharo' agitation against the GBS & HSE and Chairman Mr. LMT Fernandes in Panaji. They presented Mr. Fernandes with bangles. (Please see photo on Page 1; in the Bharatiya context, women offer bangles to men, for their inaction!) Later, Mr. Fernandes assured that, before implementing the new textbook, it will be given for review to educationists and Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS). (Congratulations to the mothers for participating in the agitation and making Mr. Fernandes commit.
- Editor)
"Demand for my removal is politically motivated": Fernandes
Mr. LMT Fernandes said, "No man is perfect. He can commit mistakes." (Mr. Fernandes does not seem to know the difference between a mistake and a blunder! For the unpardonable mistakes in the controversial textbook, the word
'blunder' is also too mild. – Editor) "Some people have told me that there are mistakes in the textbook. Now the Board has decided to revise the textbook. So the demand for my removal is politically motivated. Despite so much opposition, I am still surviving; because God knows everything," boasted Mr. Fernandes. (No wonder, when the CM himself shows his helplessness, Mr. Fernandes is audacious enough to boast in this manner! People should teach him a lesson for boasting despite a
state-wide agitation against him and a gift of bangles from the mothers of the students! – Editor)
Other significant developments
a.Secretary for Education, in the Goa Government said, "I have received complaints against Mr. Fernandes. An inquiry has been initiated and we will take action soon."
b.HJS appealed to the CM and the Secretary for Education, to ensure that textbooks contain the true History of Bharat. Following is a gist of the submission:
1. A committee should determine who is responsible for the stress caused to the students for the blunder made by GBS & HSE.
2. The committee should also determine who is responsible for the financial loss caused out of the taxpayer's money, due to withdrawal of the textbook and
re-printing of a new book.
3. The CM has agreed in the Legislative Assembly that there are many mistakes in the said textbook; yet why were the culprits not punished immediately, when will they be punished and what punishment will be meted out to them?
4. All content and pictures criticising religion, offending the religious sentiments of Hindus and impressing wrong values on the minds of students be removed from the said textbook.
5. The said textbook should contain the history of Goa, the Portuguese invasion and the consequent revolution by freedom fighters of Goa, information on the
'Inquisition', information on great personalities who have contributed to the well being of the Nation.
6. All 'History & Civics' textbooks of all standards published by NCERT be discarded as they contain a distorted version of history.
HJS cited the shining example of Lal Bahadur Shastri, who immediately resigned from his post of Railway Minister, taking responsibility for one rail mishap. He is remembered with respect even today for this sincerety. Considering the present scenario with the apathy and casual approach of the Goa Government and GBS & HSE, and despite the
on-going agitation, in-action of the Government is symbolic of degradation of politics in Goa.
Keep up the fight against people who write false history!
It is a small victory for HJS against the Congress who hates Marathi, the Nation and Dharma
- that they have been forced to admit and change mistakes made in the history textbook.
Keep up the fight, till the people who write false history are eliminated. Teach a lesson to the people who think history is either
'red' or 'green'; then they will not think of making such mistakes. -

300 Articles and we haven't even begun!
|
Mr. Sean Clarke |
SSRF's website crossed another milestone in its history, when it reached the 300 mark in articles published. While this is great because the depth of knowledge is unarguably one of its kind on the Internet, the Editorial team does have a problem. It's a good problem to have because with over 40,000 A4 size pages of Divine knowledge received, one could well say we haven't even begun. Over and above this, Divine knowledge continues to be received daily which goes into a queue to be published.
All this knowledge received from the Universal Mind and Intellect will eventually find its way to the world over the course of the next few generations as it is presented in a manner that everyone can understand.
Until then we are working as fast as we can to give our readers a taste of the diversity and depth of knowledge through various articles on how the spiritual dimension impacts every facet of our lives. Living at SSRF's spiritual research centre at Ramnathi, Goa in Bharat is a spiritual smorgasbord of spiritual knowledge and phenomena. Every day we are witness to various unique spiritual phenomena because of the grace and resolve of H. H. Dr. Athavale. Out here the influence of the spiritual dimension is palpable in all one's activities as the seeker residents of the Ashram live and breathe spiritual practice. Seekers are constantly reminded and trained to hone their sixth sense through spiritual practice.
Being part of the entire process and experiencing it all first hand, adds another dimension to the writing of the articles. We have immensely enjoyed this journey of presenting the Divine knowledge to our readers. We hope and pray that our readers also enjoy and benefit from this treasure of knowledge on their spiritual journey.

HJS Protests against Plays denigrating Hindu Dharma bear fruit!
LESSONS FOR HINDUS
RCF apologies for insulting Ramayana!
Mumbai - A play based on some incidents in
Ramayana was staged during the Safety week in RCF
Limited, a well known company in Chembur. Certain
dialogues in this play were very disgusting and hurt
the sentiments of Hindus e.g., Lakshman asks Sita, "Diwas gele ka
tula?" (Meaning - Are you pregnant?)
Lord Ram asks Lakshman, "Kay line marthos!" (Meaning
- Are you trying to flirt with her?) and Sita says
about Ashok-vatika, "Why 14 years? I could stay here
for 28 years!" At the end of the play, Sita is shown
lifting Ravan. In this manner, the play was extremely
derogatory of Ramayana. (Hindus who insult
their Dharmagranths are enemies of Hinduism. - Editor)
This insult of Ramayan was strongly protested against
by the officials of the RCF Workers Sena. This Sena's
Chief, Mr. Dattatreya Parab lodged a complaint against
the anti-Hindus who staged this play. (People like
Mr. Parab are the real strength of Hindu Dharma! - Editor)
After news on this was published in the Mumbai edition
of 'Dainik Sanatan Prabhat', Hindu Janajagruti Samiti
and some readers of 'Sanatan Prabhat' also protested
strongly against this. Due to this, the General Manager
of the company, Mr. Kiran Phadnis sent a letter of
apology addressed to Mr. Shivaji Vatkar (HJS District
co-ordinator for Mumbai) and to the Thane office of 'Sanatan Prabhat'. In this letter, Mr. Phadnis writes,
"We apologise if the incident has hurt your religious
sentiments. We will take care not to hurt any individual's
religious sentiments in the future."
The RCF Workers Sena officials have very strongly
conveyed a message to the company that henceforth
such insulting plays should not be staged in the company.
HJS protests objectionable Marathi play 'Kunti-Parthiva'
Mumbai - The 'Dainik Sanatan Prabhat' informed its
readers that a Marathi play 'Kunti-Parthiva' had distorted
the Hindu scripture, Mahabharat. When HJS activists
came to know that the play was going to be staged
in a State competition, its delegation called upon
the Administrator of the 'Yashwantrao Chavan Theatre'
and gave him a representation demanding immediate
cancellation of the show. However, the Administrator
replied that since the Cultural department of Maharashtra
Government had made the reservations for the Theatre,
he was unable to cancel it. (The Government is
supposed to take care that religious sentiments of
followers of any religion are not hurt. However, the
Government committed a breach of the Constitution
and Law by allowing a play that hurts the religious
sentiments of Hindus. The concerned Government officials
must be punished for this! – Editor)
A delegation of HJS then went to meet Mr. Prabhakar
Mayekar and Mr. Avinash Phansekar, writer and director
of the play respectively and demanded cancellation
of the play. HJS activists informed the duo of the
hurt they were causing to the religious sentiments
of Hindus. The writer and the director replied, "We
are also pro-Hindu. The dialogues are based on the
Mahabharat only. We have shown through the play how
Kunti was great and noble, despite getting a raw deal
in life. If in some portions in the play, you feel
distortion of Mahabharat has taken place, we will
delete those portions". The HJS delegation told them
to ensure that objectionable and distorted portions
are deleted before commencing the play; else the play
must be cancelled. However, the duo said, "The show
will begin in a few hours and it is not possible to
change the dialogues at the last minute. So please
allow us to stage this one show. Thereafter we will
arrange a separate show for the HJS delegation and
then delete the objectionable portions". They also
assured that henceforth the play will carry a positive
message on Hinduism and they will take care not to
hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus.
(Hindus should express gratitude to the Almighty
for these successes! - Editor)
(For details of such denigrations and efforts made
by HJS to stop them, please visit: www.HinduJagruti.org )
BPL Mobile apologises to HJS
For denigrating a Sadhu in their Advertisement!
Mumbai – In one of its advertisements (please
see photo above), BPL depicted a Sadhu dancing to
the tune of music played from a BPL mobile held in
his hand. This was displayed on various hoardings
all across Mumbai city and its other Media advertisements.
This hurt the sentiments of millions of Hindus around
the globe. (Will the BPL company dare to insult
religious sentiments of other religions like this?
Hindus awaken and protest against such depictions. -
Editor)
Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) protested against this
with the company, by not only visiting the company
but writing in too, demanding removal of the hoardings
and withdrawal of the offending advertisement from
its website too. HJS demanded an apology from the
company and warned of an Online signature campaign
across the world against the company. (Congratulations!
Such alert Hindus are the real strength of Hindu Dharma.
Every Hindu needs to protest against such a denigration.
If every Hindu shows such alertness towards his Dharma,
it will not take long to revive Hindu Dharma. - Editor)
Following the protest, BPL company sent an apology
letter to HJS and assured that it will not give another
opportunity for such a complaint.
(Let us offer gratitude to God for this success! -
Editor)
