Sanatan Prabhat Editor Arrested, Released!
Ramnathi (Ponda, Goa) - Acting on a complaint filed by the RPI (Republican Party of India) workers and the District Chief of the RPI Mr. Kamble in Miraj (Maharashtra), the Miraj Police arrested Mr. Prithviraj Hazare, Editor of
'Sanatan Prabhat' on 31st January 2008 from the Periodical's Head Quarters here. The complaint alleged disrespect to the Bharatiya Constitution and hurting of religious sentiments. (Nearly 1250 complaints have been lodged in various parts of the country against MF Husain, the Artist who has made nude and obscene paintings of Bharat-mata and Hindu Deities. Hindus have held several protests to demand his arrest. Despite this, only four cases have been registered against him and now, even after two years he is yet to be arrested. However, the Police have been prompt in arresting a Hindu for expressing his views on an issue, without even examining the veracity of the allegations. Does this action not justify a revolt? - Editor) Sanatan Sanstha's lawyer Adv. Ramdas Kesarkar was present at the time the Police arrived at the
'Sanatan Prabhat' Head Quarters.
The complainant raised an objection to the use of a Marathi word 'dhedgujri' in an article in a special Issue of
'Sanatan Prabhat' which had published the collective views of Dr. Sacchidanand Sinha, Constitutional experts Mr. Nani Palkhiwala, Mr. P Kotekar, American Law expert Mr. Jennings and the father of the Bharatiya Constitution Dr. Ambedkar, on the Bharatiya Constitution. The RPI workers demanded the arrest of the Editor of
'Sanatan Prabhat' under the 'Atrocities Act' (for casteist remarks) and a ban on the Periodical. They also put pressure on the Police for the arrest. (In a democracy, does forcing the Police to register a case not amount to disrespect of the Constitution?- Editor)
A team of four hawaldars from the Miraj Police arrived at around 1.40 pm at the 'Sanatan Prabhat' Head Quarters at Goa and took away the Editor to Miraj at 4 pm. (What was the need to bring so many Policemen from Miraj merely to arrest an Editor of a Periodical, which is working tirelessly for creating an aware-ness about Hindu Dharma, culture and Nation? Such an action would be justified if it were for a hardened criminal. The output of the Police force is negligible because of such errors in their system!
- Editor)
Police refuse to give copy of FIR!
Mr. Hazare and his lawyer Adv. Ramdas Kesarkar asked for a copy of the FIR from the Miraj Police. However, they were refused on the grounds that it can be provided only after charge sheeting and not during the investigation. Getting a copy of an FIR is a fundamental right of the accused. The accused has to know the details of who has filed the case, the crime and under what section of the law he has been accused. This was explained by the lawyer to the Police, who refused to listen and told them that everything will be available free of cost through the courts after a charge sheet was filed.
Highlights of Events that followed the arrest
In Maharashtra - Protests were lodged with the Chief Minister, Governor, Police Commissioner and the Opposition party Leader.
A delegation met Mr. RR Patil, Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra and apprised him of the arrest of the Editor of Sanatan Prabhat by Miraj Police over a triviality.
Silent protests by readers and pro-Hindus in Ghatkopar
Hindus give an overwhel-ming response to the Online Protest Campaign against the Arrest - Emails sent to Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and Governor.
The Editor was detained in Police custody for a day, despite furnishing information - The Miraj police presented Mr. Prithviraj Hazare before the First Class Magistrate Dr. JH Khomne. The Police asked for a remand of 7 days order to get information on the Owner, Publisher and Printer etc. of Sanatan Prabhat and on Dr. Kateswamiji. (Despite furnishing all information required, asking for 7 days remand is actually a planned conspiracy to harass the pro-Hindu Editor. - Editor) The Public Prosecutor was unable to justify the demand; Adv. Bala-saheb Deshpande a prominent lawyer from Sangli represented Editor of Sanatan Prabhat. He argued that when the Publisher, Printer and Editor is Mr. Hazare himself, demanding that
'others be brought' was a mistake. (This incident has proved that under a false allegation, the Police can detain any Editor. Will such a system of administration work for the welfare of the society?- Editor) The Magistrate refused to extend custody for further investigations. Mr. Hazare was released on bail.
Christians follow suit in hate politics towards Sanatan Prabhat - Just as the anti Hindu stance of the Miraj Police came to light, two Christians followed suit by lodging a complaint that their sentiments were also hurt. (It is ironical for Christians to complain when they hold mass conversion rallies and indulge in mud slinging at Hindu religion. - Editor) Taking advantage of this complaint, the Police again sought extension of the Mr. Hazare's remand. The First Class Magistrate Dr. JH Khomne dismissed the plea.
Jalgaon MLA Mr. Eknath Khadse gave an assurance that he will take-up the issue in the Maharashtra Assembly.
None of the Press barons protested the unlawful arrest - Respected personalities from different walks of life protested strongly against the unlawful arrest of the Editor. However, the renowned Press barons in Maharashtra did not utter a word!
Irresponsible attitude of President of a prominent Journalist's Union - A represent-ative of Sanatan Prabhat went to meet the President of a prominent Journalist's Union. His response was -
"Who asked you to use such words? You wanted to fight, so go ahead. When you are prepared to fight, do not cry if someone hits you, hit him in return. (This comes from a person, who does not understand that condemning a wrongful incident by gathering support does not amount to crying! - Editor) Ever since I have become the President, we have stopped condemning any action taken against a Newspaper. In my tenure there will not be any such condemnation. This union is not meant to handle such short-comings of others." (One can imagine the journalism that will emerge from the pen of one who considers speaking out against injustice as shortcomings. - Editor)

Seekers should be prepared to lose the war of the gross till 2012!
In the year 2000 AD, our war with the negative energies started at the subtle level. Since we were naive, we were caught on the back foot. But our losing has reduced since 2006. Starting 2012, we will start to win the war at the subtle level.
Whatever happens in the subtle, later occurs in the gross too (meaning that at the subtle level events have already occurred before they actually take place at the gross level).
According to this law, the war in the gross which will start now will make it impossible for us to win till the year 2012. We should remember H.H. Bhaktaraj Maharaj's bhajan which says,
"Man is powerless against Time". From 2012 we will start winning the war and by 2018 we will emerge victorious. So hold on till then!

What does the word 'dhedgujri' mean?
The 'Marathi Ratnakar' defines the word 'dhedgujri' as an assortment of words from different languages. This word is commonly used in the Marathi language. Recently it was used by the President of the 81st Marathi Sahitya Sammelan. Speaking to an audience of Marathi literary enthusiasts and politicians, Mr. Hathkananglekar used the word
'dhedgujri' for the news media which messes up the Marathi language, and the need to protest against the practice. If the word were to carry a casteist connotation, would the audience or politicians present not have protested?
------------------------------------------------------------
Arrest carried out at the behest of a certain community!
Mr. Hazare and Sanatan's lawyer tried to explain to the Police that 'Sanatan Prabhat' was not guilty of any crime;
"We have certainly not hurt the religious sentiments of anyone through our articles", they said. However, to those who had come with the sole intention of arresting the Editor, all this explanation was futile. Abiding by the law, the Editor was prepared for the arrest.
This was a situation akin to our history, when the Mughals would issue orders to present them with Shivaji Maharaj
'dead or alive!' In the Editor's case, the 'durbar' from where the 'order' was issued will eventually be known! Though the Police were convinced that
'Sanatan Prabhat' does not flout any laws through its articles, they acted under pressure. Certain communities have in the past used the name of Dr. Ambedkar; accused others of disrespect to the Bharatiya constitution and dragged in the Government machinery and Police.
'Sanatan Prabhat' Editor's arrest too was in line with those tactics.
Slogan shouting workers of the RPI first approached the office of the Deputy Superintendent of Police and later proceeded to the Miraj Police station and forced the Police to register a complaint. The Police registered a complaint under Section 295A and 153 B-1 (A) of the Indian Penal Code.
------------------------------------------------------------
A Police which has no knowledge of the word for which the complaint was lodged!
Adv. Kesarkar asked the Police if they knew the meaning of the word 'dhedgujri'. To which the Police official who came for the arrest replied, that it was widely used in Marathi conversation and that it meant someone who is confused. He said that he did not find it objectionable.
------------------------------------------------------------
Arrest of the Editor - an act of cowardice!
The word 'dhedgujri' denotes an 'assortment'. The word is archaic and definitely not casteist. Therefore, arresting the Editor for some flimsy political agenda is wrong. The tolerance of Hindus is being tested to its fullest. This is an act of cowardice.

Devad (Panvel) - In keeping with teachings of Sanatan and following
Gurukrupayog, Sanatan's seeker, Sri Satyavan Kadam reached the level of a Saint. This was declared by H.H. Pande Maharaj during Sanatan's Akhil Bharatiya Camp held here.
H.H. Dr. Athavale's message on Sri Satyavanji becoming a Saint
"Today Sri Satyavan Kadam has become Pujya Satyavan Kadam. Though He has the title of
'Pujya' before His name, He should keep the ideal of the other four Sanatan Saints before His eyes. Only if He does this, will He not face any downfall as it happens with other Saints in the society when they get entangled in
'Maharajgiri' (literally, 'trappings of a Saint'). Even after becoming a Saint, Pujya Phadke Aji behaved with
'Shishya bhav' (spiritual emotion of a Disciple) till the end. Pujya Deshpandeji, Pujya Pethe Aji and Pujya Nikam Tatya always behave with
'Shishya bhav'. If Pujya Satyavan Kadam behaves in a similar manner, He too will progress further spiritually like the other Saints of
Sanatan." (Visit www.sanatan.org for the full News. It will be given in our next Issue too.)
Siddhayogi H. H. Gagangiri Maharaj left for His heavenly abode on 4th February at 3.30 am in
'Om Gagangiri Maharaj Yogashram Patalganga Teerthak-shetra' Ashram at Khopoli (Raigad District, Maharashtra). He was 103 years old. His disciples and followers are spread all over Bharat and around the world. He performed intensive austerities underwater and acquired many supernatural powers. Many leaders and dignitaries used to come to Him for guidance. He was honoured with the
'Vishwagaurav Puraskar'. He often said, "The time ahead will be so horrific that Saints like us will prefer death." He left His body accordingly!
Seekers unite, be prepared!
This Mahatapaswi is with you!
"People may listen to you or may not; Go ahead! Unite, be prepared! This Mahatapaswi is with you! I find that common people are dejected, despondent and weak due to circumstantial challenges. Our spiritual science teaches us to win over the challenging circumstances and create life afresh. Fearless and enlightened manpower brings about revolutionary changes; but today's challenge is not limited to an individual's transformation or his final liberation.
What is important is that along with individual change, how much of the surrounding world gets involved in that change. Hence, the challenge before the world today is of evolving together. This spiritual evolution is not limited to any one Nation, religion or language; instead it is a call to urge all the people to participate in the change.
Therefore, to get all sects together and unite, do spiritual practice according to one's religion or path; later all seekers will follow universal brotherhood. Love all, nay, carry out Kshtra-dharma also with love. Support the devout, and try to sustain the Truth and ethics."
(H.H. Gagangiri Maharaj in his message to Sanatan seekers in the year 2002)
Gratitude towards H.H. Gagangiri Maharaj
H.H. Gagangiri Maharaj had a lot of affection for the seekers of Sanatan Sanstha and me. He always suggested remedial measures for the distress suffered by us due to negative energies. In the context of collective activities, like
'fighting the terrorists', undertaken for the sake of the Nation and Dharma, one of His suggestions was to increase our activities along the coastal areas. He assured us that His disciples will provide necessary spiritual energy for our mission. His words have come true today. Many disciples of H.H. Gagangiri Maharaj, like H.H. Abananda Maharaj, H.H. Sawant Maharaj, H.H. Ulhasgiri Maharaj are helping Sanatan Sanstha and Hindu Janajagruti Samiti. Words cannot express enough gratitude towards H.H. Gagangiri Maharaj. - H.H. Dr. Athavale, Founder, Sanatan Sanstha.
Evil has to be destroyed cruely ! - H.H. Gagangiri Maharaj
Everyone has to understand that our Nation got freedom after a lot of hardship and revolution. As Bharat had to revolt to get its freedom, similar circumstances exist today; the time has come for a revolution.
If an evildoer kills one person from a house, ten persons from the evildoer's house should be killed by the aggrieved person. That is the only answer to his cruelty! Great saints like Ramdas Swami, Morya Gosavi, Ranganath Swami of Nigadi, Jayaram Swami, Tukaram Maharaj and Eknath Maharaj teach the same.
The virtuous man should show his valour now. Evildoers are only 10 to 15 percent of the total population; out of which 5 percent are politicians, 5 percent are merchants, 5 percent are brokers. They are of no use to society. They all should be packed in a ship and driven away.
While the Nation burns, today's generation whiles away time celebrating Valentine's Day!
Ex-Speaker of Goa Assembly supports this and criticises Sanatan!
This year, before Valentine's Day (14th February), Sanatan Sanstha circulated a pamphlet in schools, colleges and society at large, exhorting the people and the youth in particular, not to ape the western culture; instead, to learn and live by the Bharatiya culture. In Goa, it evoked a strong response from an ex-Speaker of the Goa Assembly, who is a teacher turned Politician. The response, which supported the celebration, was critical of the effort made by Sanatan to remind the Bharatiya youth of their roots and the superficial, hollow nature of the Valentine's Day celebration. We present here our perspective.
This celebration is a blind imitation of the western culture. In most colleges, young boys and girls exhibit their so-called love for the each other by presenting flowers and gifts to each other. All this fuss is in the memory of a so called Christian Saint, Valentine. These youngsters are unaware of the Hindu culture. Those who celebrate the day, are still in their teens. They are not mature enough to exchange promises of love. Their's is just an expression of physical attraction towards the opposite sex and that too in public, without restraints of any kind. On this day, they cross limits of decency. The problem of unwed mothers has become a great headache for developed countries. We have had no such problem so far; but to have it would be sinful. We still have a
'family system' in Bharat. Hence, to follow western traditions like Valentine's Day, which sow the seeds of such attitudes in the minds of the youth will be disastrous. To oppose this tradition is as good as fighting an enemy!
The generation to-day is Hindu merely by birth, but mentally western. They do not have pride for their Dharma and as a result they do not realise the repercussions of their behaviour on the Nation's future. Prior to Independence, leaders tried to inculcate values and National pride in the younger generation and that is why 18-20 year olds sacrificed their lives for their country with a smile on their face. Today, when the country is facing all kinds of dangers, celebrating such a day will amount to the old adage -

J &K Temples being sold, allege Kashmiri Hindus
Jammu - Kashmiri Hindus allege that the Muslim-majority Government in Jammu and Kashmir is ignoring illegal sale of Hindu temples and other community properties in the State.
Less than 5,000 Kashmiri Hindus who live in the Kashmir valley say that their resistance to the sale of temple properties has exposed them to threats from a very powerful land mafia. Hindus allege they have been warned against protesting, or face the consequences.
These Hindus say that despite the State Government's 'verbal assurances' to protect temple properties, nothing is being done to save them. A promise to bring in legislation during the recent Assembly session to prevent sale of such properties was not fulfilled. To the disappointment of Hindus, the legislature was adjourned sine die without introduction of the Bill.
The ground realities in Kashmir are alarming. The Dharmarth Trust headed by Dr. Karan Singh has locked up an ancient and historical temple Ramjee of Barbar Shah. This is the first time in its known history that the temple has been locked. Security forces living in the adjacent dharmashala have been told not to enter the temple precincts.
"For all these years, it was a routine with us, the few Kashmiri Hindus living in the valley, to come here every Sunday make prasad and distribute it amongst devotees. But the trust management, with the help of the State Government, locked up the temple and no one has been allowed to enter for the past month," said Mr. Vijay Sas of
the Kashmiri Pandit Sangarsh Samiti (KPSS), Kashmir.
Hindus allege that some in the Dharmarth Trust management want to sell off the property of the temple, valued at Rs. 300 crore. In fact, some of them allege that the property will be sold to an influential Muslim living in the valley. The property is at a prime location.
Inside the huge plot of land, there is an ancient Shiva temple, said to be around 1200 years old. The lingam is said to be more than 8.5 feet high. The KPSS filed a PIL in the Supreme Court and was asked to file a fresh case in the concerned High Court. A case is already pending in the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar Wing.
"The problem is that the National media is not interested in the story while the local Muslim-majority media does not care," said Mr.
Sas. "If the Government fails to bring a Bill in the ongoing session of the State Assembly to ban sale of temples and other religious properties, we will proceed on a fast unto death," KPSS president Mr. Sanjay Tickoo said.

Opposition of Muslim Personal Law Board to registration of their Marriages!
Muslims who oppose Laws in the name of Religion, are Traitors!
New Delhi - The All India Muslim Personal Law Board has expressed opposition to the Supreme Court's order making registration of marriages compulsory, claiming that it is contrary to the teachings of Islam.
A member of the Board, Mohammed Hashmi Kanpuri has said that every Muslim is bound by the Shariat Law and the Constitution of the country has also guaranteed the same.
"Since every marriage in Islam is witnessed by the Qazi and three other persons, there is no need for a separate certificate of registration", he said. (Hindu marriages are also held in the presence of priests, and yet, they have never raised any objection like the Muslims have. Insulting the laws of the land is akin to insulting the Nation itself. Muslims who are unwilling to be a part of the mainstream, present such negative arguments! Will the Congress learn any lesson from this? - Editor) Another member of the Board, Takir Raza criticised the Government's policy against terrorism too. He claimed that in the name of battling terrorism, innocent Muslim youth are being made scapegoats.
(Crooked Muslims! When all terrorist attacks till date have been carried out by Muslims, who else can be held responsible, if not them?

Hindus should prepare to teach a lesson to the insolent Muslims!
Muslims attack RSS activists in Indore
Indore - Some Muslims attacked Hindus at Badnaavar. (If we have to keep hearing news about Muslims attacking Hindus every now and then, it is high time the Hindus themselves decide who should and who should not live in this country!
- Editor)
One Hindu was killed during the riot that ensued between Hindus and Muslims after that. For some days before that, Rashtriya Swayam Sevak (RSS) activists had been conducting their marches in the city.
On 19th January, activists of the RSS in Badnaavar decided to conduct their march. At that time, the Police prevented them from passing through the Muslim dominated Kazipura area. (Muslims have an age
old habit of attacking Hindu processions. The police who, instead of bringing the Muslims to task advise Hindus only to give in, are in fact anti-Hindus!
- Editor)
The Police spoke to the RSS activists and requested them to change their route, a request they acceded to. When they were passing through another area, a few Muslims arrived on two-wheelers and attacked the procession. (This is the result of Politicians of all parties pampering the Muslims for decades!
- Editor)
Four people were injured in this attack. In retaliation, the RSS activists then attacked the Muslims. (The Muslims have tested the tolerance of the Hindus enough! - Editor)
On the basis of complaints from some Muslims, the Police arrested 19 people. They have been charged with inciting riots and attempting to murder. (The Hindus should now unite to teach a lesson to such Police, who let the Muslims go scot-free, although the riots took place due to them and arrested the Hindus instead.

Objection to the sale of Anti-terrorism Video CDs under the pretext that it will enrage Muslims !
Varanasi - During the Magh Mela at Allahabad, an exhibit-ion and sale centre of spiritual texts and sattvik products was set up by Sanatan Sanstha and Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS). Two officials of the Crime Investigation Department (CID) repeatedly visited this exhibition centre and enquired about the activities of Sanatan and HJS. (Instead of going after terrorists, the Anti-Hindu CID officials were enquiring about Sanatan Sanstha and HJS, which work hard for the Nation and Dharma!
- Editor)
The officials of the CID were of the opinion that the Video CD titled 'And the World remained silent' made by
'Panun Kashmir' organisation and shown by HJS, should not be sold or exhibited in the Magh Mela.
(The Video CD 'And the world remained silent' exposes the brutal atrocities perpetrated by Muslim terrorists on Hindus. Are the officials preventing the exhibition and sale of these CDs, from Bharat or Pakistan?
- Editor)
On enquiring the reason for their stand, they said, "Muslims will also attend this Mela. If their sentiments are hurt, then there will be riots and we will be answerable to our seniors." (Why should Muslim sentiments be hurt by the exhibition of atrocities committed by terrorists on Hindus? Are the Muslims siding with the terrorists?
- Editor)
The official who came to the exhibition expressed his suspicion about the legality of the exhibition and gave an indication that he was expecting a bribe. (And it is the likes of such corrupt Police machinery which will maintain the law and order in the country!
- Editor)
The activists of HJS and seekers of Sanatan emphatically refused to give the bribe demanded.
