SSRF lectures held at Colleges in Mumbai!
|
Spiritual Science Research Foundation ( SSRF ) held two lectures at Somaiya College, Vidya Vihar, Mumbai on 22nd and 29th August 2008 on
'How the spiritual dimension affects our lives' and 'Spiritual perspective in decision
making'. The lectures were conducted by SSRF editor, Mr. Sean Clarke.
The hour and a half lectures included a question and answer session. The lecture was delivered with practical examples related to the students work area.
By the Guru's grace, the lecture was possible inspite of the conductor suddenly developing a sore throat and cold.
The head of the faculty of Ancient Indian culture, Ms. Kala Acharya, has arranged for SSRF to have a meeting with the head of Somaiya College; they have indicated that they will be interested in a series of lectures the entire year, as part of their curriculum.
Another SSRF lecture was held at SNDT college, Malad Branch, Mumbai on 27th August 2008 on the same topic as above. Mr. Clarke conducted it and it was attended by over 100 students.
The attendees who were First and Second year Business management students found the topic very interesting and useful. 90 feedback slips were filled and all wanted such lectures in the future. Most said they learnt something new about the spiritual dimension, which they were not exposed to until this lecture. A practical demonstration of a subtle experiment was appealing to most as they learnt about their subtle ability, which they were ignorant of earlier. After the positive feedback of all the students the college is likely to ask for more lectures.

Dharma-sabhas for Spiritual progress! - 2
In the recent past Hindu Janajagruti Samiti ( HJS) has organised many Dharma-sabhas in Maharashtra, Karnataka and Goa with the aim of uniting Hindus and imparting Dharma-shiksha to them. Now HJS has planned Dharma-sabhas in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Gujarat and Haryana (See box below). Readers are requested to contact the nearest HJS office and participate actively in these. (The following portion is a continuation from our last Issue.)
Manifestation of Hindu radiance for the Nation and Dharma!
Presently Hindu Dharma is facing attack from all sides in various ways like conversions, denigration of their Deities, murders of Hindu leaders and revered priests, terrorism, encroachment on land of Hindu temples, passing of laws against Hindu Dharma etc. To counter these attacks, it is necessary that Hindus be awakened and united. HJS is engaged in this noble mission through various mediums. As part of its mission, it has organised Dharma-sabhas through which lakhs of Hindus have been inspired and have resolved to become active for the sake of the Nation and Dharma.
Invaluable thrust of Dharma-sabhas!
Sabhas received the blessings and active participation of Saints.
A feeling of unity was created amongst the Hindu political parties, Organisations and ardent Hindus.
The Hindus thundered at the politicians, heretics and those suffering from Hindu-hatred, about the fact that the Hindus have awakened and that no one can deceive them any longer.
It was emphasised through the Sabhas that apart from becoming aware of the present pathetic condition of Hindu Dharma, it is essential to undertake spiritual practice to enhance the atma-shakti to change the condition.
Ardent Hindus, who always wanted to do something for Dharma but wondered what they could effectively do all alone, have now received direction about the mission of reinstating Dharma.
Resolutions passed at the Dharma-sabhas!
1. We protest against the Government for promoting a project that destroys the Ram Setu!
2. We protest against the Government for arresting the Editor of the pro-Hindu paper
'Sanatan Prabhat' in a wrongful manner; but on the other hand not arresting the likes of MF Husain, who have drawn nude obscene paintings of Hindu Deities and Bharatmata.
3. The Government is not serious about the vandalism of Idols of Hindu Deities. Attack on the temples and breaking of Idols is an attack on our soul and we will never tolerate it.
4. We strongly protest the 'Anti-blind faith Bill' and 'Temple Take-over Bill' that are being enacted by the Maharashtra Government!
Political leaders who make the people selfish by giving false promises in public meetings, go into oblivion in the course of time; whereas leaders who teach us sacrifice, like Lokmanya Tilak, Swatantryaveer Savarkar etc. become immortal! Through the Sabhas, HJS is also teaching the Hindus how to make such a sacrifice.

HJS' Appeal to Manufacturers of Fire Crackers!
Highlights of what the HJS Convener for Mumbai, Mr. Shivaji Vatkar has written to
'All India Federation of Fire-works Associations' and 'Tamilnadu Fire-works & Amorces Manufacturers
Association', based at Sivakasi, Tamilnadu on the subject of denigration of Hindu Deities and National Leaders through pictures on fire-crackers:
We have corresponded with you over the last 5 years requesting you to stop printing of pictures of Deities and National leaders on fire-crackers. In October 2006 you had indicated that you had taken up the issue with the fire-works manufacturers, dealers and lorry owners. Also you had issued a circular to this effect.
We regret to state that last year too, a lot of fire-crackers were found in the market, with pictures of Lord Krushna, Lakshmi etc. Besides the Fire-works Association at Sivakasi, we had sent protest letters to Chief Controller of Explosives (Nagpur), Police authorities, State Government etc. in this regard.
Police complaints were filed and action was taken against some dealers for selling such fire-crackers.
There is a practice of celebrating festivals like Diwali, Dussehra etc. by burning fire-crackers. These are religious and pious festivals. As per the Hindu religion, we should worship and get blessings from Deities during the festivals. After burning the crackers, the pictures of Deities are blown into pieces and people trample upon them etc. and ultimately they are thrown into dustbins and gutters. Thus, there is denigration of our Deities and insult of National leaders. This amounts to hurting the religious feeling of Hindus which is an offence as per Section 295 A & 298 of the Bharatiya Constitution. Hence, we once again request you to make arrangements to stop printing and putting pictures of Deities and National leaders on fire-crackers.
Further, Mr. Vatkar also wrote to M/s Sri Krishna Fireworks, Sivakasi on how they are denigrating Deities and hurting religious feelings of Hindus through their products.
We have corresponded with you over the last two years protesting about the fire-crackers (carrying pictures of Deities) manufactured by you and sold in Mumbai.
It is also an offence to put pictures of Deities on products, as per the Indian Trade marks Act. Accordingly, we had taken up the matter with the Police authorities.
This matter has been published in the local newspapers in Mumbai and a protest campaign was launched on our website www.HinduJagruti.org , which received an overwhelming response.
Unfortunately you have been the source and main cause of hurting the feelings of Hindus. We hereby once again request you to stop printing pictures of Deities on crackers manufactured by you and be worthy of the blessings of the Deities. ( Ref:www.HinduJagruti.org )
An Appeal to Readers!
Keep the points above in mind and lodge Police complaints (along with the samples) if you find fire-crackers with pictures of Deities and National leaders!

Sri Sri Ravishankarji listening attentively to Ms. Prabhu of HJS |

Sri Sri Ravishankarji said to HJS members, "This film is a big flop in the USA; I am with you in this campaign against the film."
