This holy book provides information
on some Names of Shiva, spiritual meaning of some of His
special physical features such as association with Ganga,
the moon (chandra), the third eye, the serpent (nag), holy
ash (bhasma), rudraksha beads and the seat and clothing
made of tiger skin; His spiritual attributes such as severe
austerities, wrath, simplicity, His being the master of
spirits or the Creator of the universe, etc., and His missions.
The Shiva principle in some of His forms Rudra, Ardhanarînateshvar,
Vetal, Nataraj, and His messengers (Shivadut), Nandi, etc.,
have also been described. Practical suggestions on how to
distinguish between a true and a fake rudraksha, the types
of pindîs, the significance of an incomplete circumambulation
of the divine phallus (linga) in the worship of Shiva, the
importance of consecration by sprinkling liquids (abhishek)
and information on various Shaiva sects are also given in
this holy book.
