If one views the Gurus
physical appearance with gross vision one cannot appreciate
His special characteristics. This book therefore aims at
providing information on the qualities of a Guru, the types
of Gurus, His mode of teaching a disciple both verbally
and beyond words, the Guru-disciple relationship, the Gurus
viewpoint on the state of being a Guru, the Gurus
seat (gadi) and His paduka (footwear) and His behaviour
in general and with saints. It also explains the origin
of the Guru hierarchy and the important role that India
plays in this context. It elaborates on the importance of
the Gurus grace, what one should do to be blessed
by a Guru (guruprapti) and to acquire His grace (gurukrupa),
the mechanism of action of His grace, what spiritual practice
one should adopt according to the Path of Gurus Grace
(Gurukrupayoga), initiation by the Guru, why it is believed
that a gurumantra should be kept a secret, etc.
