Orthodox
Christianity
A denomination (branch) of Christianity which is believed
to have begun
in approximately the 11th and 12th centuries A.D., and is practiced in eastern
Europe, particularly Greece, the Balkan states and Russia. Also referred to as
Eastern Orthodox. Orthodox churches contain rich iconography (painted images)
of the life of Lord Jesus, Mother Mary and Christian saints and teach the importance
of living every activity of life in communion with God, so as to receive His
constant grace. |
