Sanatan Sanstha

Navratri Campaign

"The festival of Navratri is for worship of Divine Energy (Matrushakti)."

Navratri is the fight between pravrutti and Nivrutti, the fight between Sankalpa (resolution) and vikalpa (doubts). According to the science of Spirituality, Prakruti (Maya) and Purush (God principle) are responsible for Creation, Sustenance and Dissolution. Prakruti is considered to be Matrushakti. Navratri is celebrated to show gratitude to Matrushakti. The Family Deity (Kuldevi) is especially worshipped during these 9 days. Matrushakti flows in the Universe because of ghatasthapana. During these days shakti (energy) manifesting in Universe is more by 60%. Around this time, the harvest is also ready, which means matrutwa (stage of nurturing) process is almost complete. Spiritually, this festival is celebrated to show gratitude.

All organizations should come forward (to ensure spiritually beneficial celebration of Navratri)

Some organizations should take the lead in accomplishing the spiritually beneficial celebration of Navratri, and all organizations should unite in this mission. The Sanatan is doing this important mission, so other organizations should co-operate. We can make Navratri celebrations ideal and should do the same for other festival celebrations. Organizations with similar missions should join hands together to improve themselves, by evaluating and changing their thinking.

Organizations should think about the benefits to the society and try to reach as many people through the medium of this festival.

Festival of transforming jiva (embodied Soul) into Shiva (God principle)

What is the objective behind ghatasthapana? The jiva (embodied soul) is considered as ghat (pot with many holes) and transforms akash (ether) into maha akash, that is, Brahma (God principle). Thus, Navratri is a festival of gratitude for the transformation of jiva into Shiva. It is a festival of Matrushakti, so women should be looked upon with equality.

Equality should be the view of the society. Equality, freedom, brotherhood, and other good qualities should be spread throughout the society. This is the reason that we celebrate this festival publicly. People should think about how to celebrate religious festivals to ensure spiritual benefit for the individual and society, what are the ideals of the festival, and whether we behave that way. On each day of Navratri, one of the Navshakti (nine Divine Energies) is worshipped.

Surrendering to the spiritually evolved

Spiritually evolved people tell us to derive maximum benefits from Matrushakti and Its vibrations. Today, 70% of people consider a woman as a showpiece. (They should realize that) a woman is not an object of pleasure, but she represents Matrushakti. Navratri is celebrated every year to remind us of this fact.

During Navratri, every man should realize that woman is the mother of man. She gives him support, puts him on the path of progress and guides him. Ideally, we should be worshipping this Matrushakti, but in the name of garbha we play vulgar songs loudly late in the night and dance (provocatively). Slowly, western culture is taking over our festivals. Without realizing this, we continue indiscriminately. Then, we would (naturally) get depressed.

Avoid unnecessary expenses

So much money is spent on decoration, lighting and making new idols (for the Navratri festival). Instead, we can build a small, permanent Durga temple. Every year, whatever contribution is received, we should try to use it for social programs of educational value that will have social as well as spiritual significance.

Money should be properly used

Some organizations do use the money collected for the festival for the benefit of society. For the blessings of Matrushakti are ensured by becoming more and more sattvik, not by playing vulgar songs late into the night under the pretext of this celebration. As society grows sattvik and spiritual, undesirable things will be curbed automatically.
