Campaign for awareness of spiritually
correct way of celebrating Navratri

The Hindu vowed religious observance (vrata) of Navratri (lit., 9 nights) begins with Ghatasthapana. Ghatasthapana falls on the first day (pratipadaa) of the bright fortnight of the Hindu lunar calendar month of Ashvin. The observance of Navratri continues for a period of 9 days. This year (2006), Ghatasthapana falls on 23 September, that is, Navratri begins on 23 September and ends on 1 October. Also know as Navratra. Repeating the Name (Naamjapa) of Sri Durgadev - Sri Durgadevyai namaha - is advised durng this time.
