Christmas

Dear Readers and Friends,

We invite you to join us in celebrating the universal festival of Christmas. For many of us Christmas is a time for prayer and worship, giving of gifts and partaking in celebrations with ones family and friends. We have prepared information that will complement your Christmas celebrations and add spiritual depth to the various Christmas traditions.

In more recent times, the true spiritual meaning of Christmas has been overshadowed by the increased commercialization and emphasis given to social activities. People from all walks of life express the view that today; although the Christmas is celebrated widely, it sometimes lacks the devotion and spiritual emotion that is appropriate for the celebration of this auspicious festival.

One obtains maximum benefits from a celebration if it is performed with faith and intense devotion. One can celebrate festivals with most faith when one understands the science behind the celebrations and performs it in accordance with the spiritual principles. If the festival were celebrated with the correct spiritual meaning and with reverence, one would be benefited immensely with spiritual emotions and love that knows no bounds. The season is about the eternal love that was shown to humanity by the birth of Lord Jesus Whose teachings guide us to God.

It is for this reason that Sanatan has prepared a campaign to increase the awareness of the spiritually correct celebration of Christmas. We trust this campaign will aid you in observing the traditions of Christmas with spiritual meaning. This campaign focuses on the spiritual understanding of:

The universal nature of Christmas.
The significance of Jesus' birth.
The spiritual significance behind gift giving.
Practical advice that everyone may put into practice today itself so as to make their Christmas more meaningful and your best Christmas ever.

In Spiritual texts there is a difference between the literal and implied meanings. Unless we understand the implied meaning correctly, we cannot take full advantage of the treasure of Knowledge given to us by the Holy Texts. Once we learn how to interpret the implied meanings, it will be easy to understand the implied meaning of any scripture. For a correct understanding of the terminology used, please refer to the glossary by clicking on the hyperlinked words.

We wish you and your families a spiritually enriched Christmas, and may Jesus Who was born two thousand years ago be born in your hearts today.
