How to reach Sanatan Ashram?

Sanatan Ashram is nestled between the famous temples of Shri Shantadurga Devi and Shri Ramnath, in Bandivade village of Ponda (Goa). Situated about 33 kilometers from the capital city of Panjim, the Ashram is easily accessible by road, rail and air.

By Road

Travelling from the North of Goa, via Panaji

Panaji is well connected to all major cities through both state run and private mass transport. If you are travelling by bus, you should get down at Panaji bus stand and take a shuttle to Ponda (approximate travel time is 1 hour). Taxis and rental bikes are also easily available. Your route should take you through Panaji – Old Goa – Mangueshi (Temple) – Ponda – Sanatan Ashram

Travelling from the south of Goa, via Margao

Margao also has a state run bus stand from where you can catch a bus to Ponda. You can also hire a taxi or a bike (pilots as they are called locally) to take you to Ponda. (Approximate travel time is 45 minutes). Your route should take you through Margao – Borim – Ponda – Sanatan Ashram

From Ponda

If you have reached Ponda, you can board a local bus or hire an autorickshaw / taxi / bike to the Sanatan Ashram (approximately 20 minutes). By bus, you will have to ask the conductor to drop you off outside the Sanatan Ashram.

By Rail

From Margoa (Station code MAO)

Margao is the railway hub of Goa. The station receives trains with all classes of travel (Vande Bharat, Rajdhani, Duronto, Express, Passenger etc.) and is well connected to most major cities of Bharat. From Margao Railway station, you can hire taxis (through a convenient pre-paid taxi stand) or take a shuttle to the Kadamba Bus stand from where you can take a bus / taxi / bike to Ponda. Travel is approximately 22 kilometres.

From Karmali (Station code KRMI)

Karmali (also known as Carambolim) is another railway station from where you can hire a prepaid taxi to Sanatan Ashram. Please note that there is no bus facility from the Karmali station. Also, fewer trains have scheduled halts here. Travel is approximately 20 kilometres. 

By Air

From Dabolim International Airport (IATA: GOI, ICAO: VAGO)

Dabolim airport is approximately 32 kilometres from Ponda. It services daily flights from major domestic as well as international airports. There is a prepaid taxi stand where you can hire taxis to take you to Ponda / Sanatan Ashram.

From Manohar International Airport (IATA: GOX, ICAO: VOGA)

Manohar International airport, also known as the Mopa airport after its location, is about 60 kilometres from Ponda. You will be able to hire a pre-paid taxi from the Airport to Ponda / Sanatan Ashram.
