Hindus’ nonchalance
about their own religion is familiar to all. We rarely see
Hindus protesting the irreverence to their religion through
advertisements, literature, articles, drama, newspapers or
the open criticism of Saints, Holy Scriptures and Deities.
During public religious celebrations, programs, which summarily
disregard sacred values, Righteousness (Dharma) and social
welfare are held. Hindus turn a blind eye towards the misdemeanor
going on in various places of pilgrimage instead of opposing
it vehemently. A few Hindus, whose spiritual practice reduces
and heart bleeds due to this state of affairs, do not know
how to put an end to it. Their small number and the disunity
of Hindus bothers them, and they wonder about the solution
to this gaping problem.
Devotion unto God is the real solution to this problem.
The Lord always hears the prayer of His devotee. Just as He strengthens the devotee,
He can also render evildoers helpless. However, one cannot attain the state of
devotion without doing spiritual practice. Hence, it is not enough to have pride
for one’s religion and Righteousness (Dharma), but it needs to be supported
with spiritual practice.
Just as those with pride for religion and Righteousness
(Dharma) need to do spiritual practice, seekers doing spiritual practice need
to have pride for religion and Righteousness (Dharma). Righteousness (Dharma)
protects those who protect It when It is threatened. We should plead to The Lord
through repeating (chanting) The Lord's Name and prayer. This pleading has to
be done on the background of fury against those (adharmi) who oppose or malign
Righteousness (Dharma). If the devotee is ready to stand firmly against those
(adharmi) who oppose or malign Righteousness (Dharma), then God will do anything
for him. He even assumed an Incarnation for devotee Prahlad. O seekers, on the
occasion of the New Year, resolve to stand thus (against unrighteousness)!
